Extractive meeting summarization through speaker zone detection

چکیده
In this paper we investigate the role of discourse analysis in extractive meeting summarization task. Specifically our proposed method comprises of two distinct steps. First we use a meeting segmentation algorithm in order to detect various functional parts of the input meeting. Afterwards, a two level scoring mechanism in a graph-based framework is used to score each dialogue act in order to extract the most valuable ones and include them in the extracted summary. We evaluate our proposed method on AMI and ICSI corpora and compare it with other state-of-the-art graph based algorithms according to various evaluation metrics. The experimental results show that our algorithm outperforms the other state-of-the-art ones according to most of the metrics and on both datasets.

Exploring speaker characteristics for meeting summarization
In this paper, we investigate using meeting-specific characteristics to improve extractive meeting summarization, in particular, speaker-related attributes (such as verboseness, gender, native language, role in the meeting). A rich set of speaker-sensitive features are developed in the supervised learning framework. We perform experiments on the ICSI meeting corpus. Results are evaluated using ...
متن کاملCorrelation between ROUGE and Human Evaluation of Extractive Meeting Summaries
Automatic summarization evaluation is critical to the development of summarization systems. While ROUGE has been shown to correlate well with human evaluation for content match in text summarization, there are many characteristics in multiparty meeting domain, which may pose potential problems to ROUGE. In this paper, we carefully examine how well the ROUGE scores correlate with human evaluatio...
متن کاملUsing Speech-Specific Characteristics for Automatic Speech Summarization
In this thesis we address the challenge of automatically summarizing spontaneous, multi-party spoken dialogues. The experimental hypothesis is that it is advantageous when summarizing such meeting speech to exploit a variety of speech-specific characteristics, rather than simply treating the task as text summarization with a noisy transcript. We begin by investigating which term-weighting metri...
متن کاملFrom Extractive to Abstractive Meeting Summaries: Can It Be Done by Sentence Compression?
Most previous studies on meeting summarization have focused on extractive summarization. In this paper, we investigate if we can apply sentence compression to extractive summaries to generate abstractive summaries. We use different compression algorithms, including integer linear programming with an additional step of filler phrase detection, a noisychannel approach using Markovization formulat...
متن کاملIntra-Speaker Topic Modeling for Improved Multi-Party Meeting Summarization with Integrated Random Walk
This paper proposes an improved approach to extractive summarization of spoken multi-party interaction, in which integrated random walk is performed on a graph constructed on topical/ lexical relations. Each utterance is represented as a node of the graph, and the edges’ weights are computed from the topical similarity between the utterances, evaluated using probabilistic latent semantic analys...
